The Share Kai Cooks Collective
The Share Kai Cooks Collective provides opportunities for women from refugee and migrant backgrounds, who face barriers to participating in the workforce and society, for social connection and financial security.

Diverse Kai
The Cooks Collective is made up of passionate and capable cooks from ethnic communities not often visible in the hospitality scene in Aotearoa.
In 2024 our membership has grown to 20 members from four ethnic backgrounds: Afghan, Eritrean and Bhutanese/Nepali and Moroccan.
Interested in trying their kai? Share Kai Catering is one of the economic and learning opportunities that our Cooks Collective engage in. Book them to cater an event!

Professional Development
InCommon works alongside the Cooks Collective, we provide professional development and identify and facilitate opportunities for our Cooks Collective to engage with our wider community and achieve financial security.
In partnership with Rourou and Lady Khadija Trust we offer a leadership programme, tailored to women from ethnic backgrounds, for the Cooks Collective.
In partnership with Hagley Adult Literacy Centre we provide weekly English classes to enable members to improve their English.
One of the goals of many of our members is to one day run their own food business. The Share Kai Café is an incubator for this, providing the opportunity for members to build skills by taking turns operating the café each week and keep the proceeds. Visit us Fridays for lunch with a purpose!

Partnership
Together the Cooks Collective, Share Kai Ops team and delivery partners share responsibility for making our events happen.
And they couldn’t happen without our wonderful diners! Come and join us, read more about our upcoming events here:
