Share Kai Café.

Lunch with a purpose.

We use kai to bring people together and help remove barriers to participating in our society.

The Share Kai Café connects customers with the cuisines of Afghanistan, Eritrea and Nepal every Friday lunchtime in the heart of Ōtautahi.

Run by the Share Kai Cooks Collective the café is an incubator for members, providing the opportunity to build hospitality skills by taking turns operating the café each week and keeping all proceeds made.

Each Monday we release a new lunch menu featuring traditional dishes from one of our four groups: Afghan, Eritrean, Nepali/Bhutanese and Moroccan.

Drop in to our café open every Friday in the dining space at WEA Canterbury, 59 Gloucester Street, we accept cash and eftpos, or order online (help our cooks plan!).

We have an exciting pop-up café at the Cherish Centre, 52 Bealey Avenue, for lunch on Tuesday September 24th for Mental Health Awareness Week. The theme of this week is “Community is what we create together“ and we couldn’t agree more! Join us at this special cafe session and enjoy the beautiful space the Cherish Centre have created in the heart of our city. Click on Pop-up Cafe Cherish Centre below to see the Eritrean menu and order your meal.
